RMG™ Payment Gateway

eBIZ.mobility offers the RMG™ (Roaming Mediation Gateway) payment gateway, an innovative solution to handle the routing, authorization, and foreign currency exchange of M-commerce roaming transactions between network operators.

The company's RMG allows travelers to perform mobile payment transactions and to purchase data services across international boundaries using nothing more than their cell-phones. The RMG payment gateway performs transaction authorization between network operators in real-time, as well as providing a true interoperability platform across disparate M-commerce technologies.

The RMG sits between different mobile operators to route and authorize immediate M-commerce transactions. This element is secure and flexible and works with any payment scheme for any commercial transaction. When a traveling consumer purchases a video clip or a soft drink in another country using the mobile telephone, the transaction is authorized by his or her home service provider and currency is converted in real-time.

Benefits

The eBIZ.mobility solution can help Mobile Network Operators and contactless smart card issuers drive M-commerce and capture additional revenue by:

  • Quickly establishing profitable business partner and merchant relationships via an open, secure and globally accepted content provider interface.
  • Increasing consumer usage of M-commerce services by focusing on ease of use, speed of use, and security.
  • Facilitating universal acceptance of stored value contactless payment cards no matter where they were issued, nor what currency they were issued in.
Where we fit with Mobile Network Operators...

  1. The user navigates the visited operator's portal and wishes to view a streaming video session hosted by a local partner.
  2. The application has previously registered with the visited network's M-commerce mediation system and sends a secure OSA/Parlay request for authorization.
  3. The visited network operator's M-commerce mediation system determines that this request is not associated with a local subscriber and so forwards the request to eBIZ.mobility's local RMG payment gateway, which determines the address of the home network.
  4. Using this address, the local RMG payment gateway routes the M-commerce transaction to the RMG payment gateway in the home network over the public SS7 network in a highly secure manner. At this point real-time currency conversion may take place.
  5. The home RMG payment gateway then forwards this request to the home network operator's M-commerce mediation system for real-time user and funds authorization, and sends a response back to the visited network via the original request path. This response could include information such as a final advice of charge in the user's home currency (and consistent with the user's price plan).
  6. Once the streaming session has completed, the final balance update is then sent to the home network. In a prepaid scenario, this session may consist of several credit token reservations in the home prepaid platform, prior to a final deduction upon session termination.
Where we fit with Contactless Payment...

The eBIZ.mobility solution helps contactless smart card issuers and merchant acquirers be they Mobile Network Operators, Regional Transportation Operators, or others. The solution enables seamless use of a contactless smart card for payment regardless of where it was issued, which type of contactless chip it uses, or where it is being used. With the RMG payment gateway, a mobile network operator can still garner revenue from topping up stored value smart cards that are integrated into their subscribers' handsets even when they are overseas!
